Feeling Soch? The Mount Rainier Arts Commission August Social at Washington Glass School Aug 28th!

The Mount Rainier Arts Commission (MRAC) has been networking the area creatives with a monthly “artist’s social” for artists (in all media and forms) that live or work in Mt Rainier- this month’s event is a Social at the Glass School – Wed, 28th Aug, from 6-7:30! 

And a perfect chance to chat up the new commissioners about the representation of the arts in our area. These events are a lot of fun and connect!

Saturday – Meet the Artists @ Artomatic

This Saturday is the “Meet the Artists” night at DC’s Artomatic Art Fair – from 7 – 9 pm.


The James Renwick Alliance will also host a reception at Artomatic on Saturday, June 2 from 5:00 to 7:00 PM in the JRA Education Room, #1106, on the 11th floor. Many of artists whose work was selected the JRA as recipients of the Award of Excellence will be at the reception – starting around  6 PM. At the Prince George’s County Parks and Recreation Room on the 3rd floor @ 7:30pm, they will announce the Department’s purchases of artwork by Prince George’s County artists for the Department’s permanent collection – for a bit of art excitement!

DC Artists: DCCAH Announces 2013 Grant Programs

The DC Commission on the Arts & Humanities offers several funding programs for individuals and nonprofit organizations located in the District of Columbia. Individuals are not required to provide matching funds. Organizations are only required to provide matching funds as indicated

Commission staff conducts general workshops where participants learn useful information about the Commission and the steps to take to submit a grant application. At these workshops, staff and applicants discuss each grant-making opportunity. Workshop dates, times and locations are subject to change.

Get up close and personal with legions of local artists in their studios and see the work of this intensely creative community

The Gateway Arts District will host their 7th Annual Open Studio Tour on Saturday, May 14 from 12 PM to 5 PM. Maps will direct visitors on a self-guided tour of the new

Gateway Arts Center

and over 70 art studios within a half-mile radius. Food carts at several locations; free parking.

Following the Tour is the After Party! The Gateway Arts Center will concurrently feature two exhibitions: “Big Ideas: Sondra N. Arkin, Ellyn Weiss, Susan Finsen” (artist talks at 2 PM and 4 PM), and “Body,” curated by Ledelle Moe (party/opening reception following the Open Studio Tour, from 5:30 PM to 8 PM)
