From the small child to the serious art collector, the Holiday Open House fits everyone’s taste. The event features fun gift ideas and snacks, with the artists of the Gateway Arts District opening their studios to the public. The 12th Annual Gateway Open Studio Tour in the Prince George’s County Gateway Arts District -home to one of the DC metro area’s most innovative and creative artist community – opens this Saturday, May 14th, 2016, from 12-5 p.m. Later – from 5-8pm, the Gateway Arts Center will host an After Party and an Opening Reception at the 39th Street Gallery.

Gateway Arts District artists, studios and galleries will open their doors to the public – with many studios featuring live demonstrations and performances.

Come to the Washington Glass School and Studio and see works by WGS artists: Erwin Timmers, Audrey Wilson, Michael Janis, Laurie Brown, John Henderson, Tim Tate, Diane Cabe, Veta Carney, Trish Kent and Debra Ruzinsky.

 

2015 Winter Sculpture Exhibit and Open Studios!

This Saturday, December 12, from noon-5pm is the Washington Glass School’s Winter  Holiday Open House!  Come in and see what the heck we’ve been doing this past year!

Artist Debra Ruzinsky was the only US artist invited to the international Glass Competition held this year in Sweden. Back home, Debra has continued her exploration of new and exciting sculptural forms made from recycled glass. Come see the new works and why she is so excited by this direction for her artwork.

Artist Allegra Marquart will be showing her new Glass and Threads pieces where she is working textile into her narrative compositions. Allegra was one of the artists showcased by Maurine Littleton Gallery at the Chicago SOFA art expo. Allegra will be showing this new work as well as a number of sculptures.

Syl Mathis has had a great year – his work was the hit of many of the area exhibits. He has a number of new works that he made especially for the Winter Sculpture Show.

Artist Erwin Timmers has been busy with so many projects! Erwin has been heading up the Washington Glass Studio’s site specific artwork projects and finds the time to making incredibly thoughtful designs.

Audrey Wilson has been going strong! After success in exhibiting at major art fairs like SOFA Chicago and Art Miami, Audrey has been kicking butts and taking names

Tim Tate has also been on a big winning streak! He is back from huge Art Basil Miami fairs – and has had some big developments at home – he  just moved into his new place in the city.

Tim and all the artists at Washington Glass School will be joined in the Winter Open House by all the surrounding Mt Rainier artist studios. Also open on Saturday will be Artbar, ReCreative Spaces, Otis Street Arts Project, White Point Studio, Orange Door Studios, Tanglewood Works, Blue Door Studios, and more! Nearby Brentwood Arts Exchange has their craft store and will have specialty beer tastings sponsored by Town Center Market.

Gateway Arts District  presents its 9th Annual Open Studio Tours  – one of the best events in the greater Washington, D.C., metro area!

This event showcases the many professional artists representing nearly every visual arts medium. You’ll have access to art galleries, studios, cultural centers and performing spaces throughout the Prince George’s County Gateway Arts District (a vibrant cultural scene spanning Mount Rainier, Brentwood, North Brentwood and Hyattsville).

Gateway Arts District starts along the Eastern Ave border to DC.

The event is free and open to the public. Close to 140 individual artists will participate to make an exceptional event.Come to the Washington Glass School in the part of Gateway known as “Artists on the Tracks” and see the works of the Glass School artists and next door Flux and Red Dirt Studios.

This year’s tour features a guided shuttle bus tour of select studios, live performances at Joe’s Movement Emporium, and an exhibition opening at the 39th Street Gallery.

 The 8th Annual Gateway Open Studio Tour takes place this coming Saturday, May 12, 2012, from Noon til 5:00 PM. 17 Venues – 70 Studios will be open – come on in and have a look at one of the DC areas most exciting arts scenes!  

Washington Glass School will be participating – check out the artworks by Tim Tate, Erwin Timmers, Michael Janis, Robert Kincheloe, Nancy Donnelly, Mick Coughlan and more!

The Gateway Arts District will host their 7th Annual Open Studio Tour on Saturday, May 14 from 12 PM to 5 PM. Maps will direct visitors on a self-guided tour of the new

Following the Tour is the After Party! The Gateway Arts Center will concurrently feature two exhibitions: “Big Ideas: Sondra N. Arkin, Ellyn Weiss, Susan Finsen” (artist talks at 2 PM and 4 PM), and “Body,” curated by Ledelle Moe (party/opening reception following the Open Studio Tour, from 5:30 PM to 8 PM)
