Norwegian-American artist Brit Hammer is well known for her abstract fine art Byzantine glass mosaics and her fresco techniques that use mosaic materials in a new, different way. In addition to her role as artist, coach and teacher, Brit is an independent motivational speaker driven by a passion to inspire everyone to connect with the artist within. She is the author of the bestselling book Breakout! Your Pathway to Success.

in all media.Titled “Rise to Fame”, the author seeks to explain what must happen on the inside to reach the level of sustainable success and one’s highest potential. Brit has announced a call to artists to submit artwork images and information for inclusion.

ntries must illustrate an artist’s personal “voice” and be refined, cutting-edge fine art. ALL MEDIA including drawings, fiber art, sculpture, jewelry, glass, paintings, fine art mosaic and mixed-media will be considered for inclusion. NO COST TO ENTER

Up to 3 artworks and 6 images per artist may be entered. All entries must be original works and be created by the submitting artist(s) within the past 5 years.

Call 4 Artists!

>Spring is soon, and as we all know, in the spring, an artist’s fancy lightly turns to thoughts of “Calls for Entries”.

Visual Overture Magazine, a quarterly publication that promotes emerging artists, has begun the entry process for its Summer 2011 Featured Emerging Artists competition. Seven artists (any medium) are selected (by artPark author Rob Jones) and featured in the magazine. Selected artists are presented on a two-page spread with images of their work, interview questions, artist statement, and contact details.

Entries are only $17 per artist – artists to submit digital files electronically. Complete the entry form and get three images to VO by April 18, 2011.

Deadline: February 28, 2011.

Open call for Washington, D.C. metro area artists for Torpedo Factory Art Center’s 2011 annual jury for artist members. Drop off date: February 28, 2011. The Torpedo Factory’s annual jury will be held February 28 – March 3, 2011.

The Torpedo Factory houses more than 165 artists in combination studio/gallery space. The application form and submission requirements are available on their website. Accepting submissions by emerging and established artists in all media. Direct inquiries to Michele Hoben at mphoben@aol.com.

Who are the jurors?
There are separate 3-person panels judging the 2-D work and the 3-D work. The jurors are highly qualified professional artists, curators, teachers, museum directors and the like, who are independent of the Torpedo Factory. Their decision is final. They will look for work that meets the highest standards of professionalism and promise.
NOTE: This jury process is NOT a critique. Artists will not receive a critique.

Call For Entries St Louis Craft Alliance

Saint Louis’ Craft Alliance has announced a national invitational and juried exhibition titled “Identify Yourself” – exhibition dates are May 20-July 3 , 2011.

The theme of the show is, “Who are you? What is your history and what makes you, you?” The curator/juror, noted gallery owner Duane Reed, will be choosing work that explores ideas pertaining to cultural identity, psychological identity or personal narrative.

Some of the invited artists include Sonya Clark, Gregory Grennon, Elizabeth Lo, Mark Newport and Joyce J. Scott. The exhibition will be at the Craft Alliance DELMAR LOOP location: 6640 Delmar Blvd, Saint Louis, MO 63130.

All featured works must be made of clay, glass, metal fiber or wood.

Entry postmark deadline is MARCH 25, 2011.

ABOUT THE GALLERY

The M-NCPPC occupies approximately one quarter of the Gateway Arts Center, in which we feature a gallery, a contemporary craft showcase, and an arts classroom. The art gallery is approximately 1,300 square feet. It has high, open ceilings, track lighting, and pristine white walls.

JUROR

F. Lennox Campello is one of the Mid Atlantic’s best known arts personalities. Educated in art at the University of Washington School of Art, Campello is a widely published freelance art critic, a curator with more than one hundred exhibitions under his belt, an award winning artist, a radio and TV personality often heard on NPR, the Voice of America, and MHZ TV’s “ArtsMedia News”, a former and charter Associate Dealer for Sothebys.com, and one of the internet’s seminal visual arts bloggers. His Daily Campello Art News (dcartnews.blogspot.com) is one of the web’s earliest and most popular art blogs with nearly a million visitors a year. Campello is also the co-founder of the Fraser Galleries of Washington, DC and Bethesda, Maryland, which he co-owned for ten years until 2006.

ELIGIBILITY & SUBMISSION CRITERIA

This call-for-entries is open to all artists 18 years old or older who live, work, or have studios in the Gateway Arts District in Prince George’s County, that includes Mt. Rainier, Brentwood, North Brentwood, and Hyattsville, MD.

Due to space limitations and the high volume of traffic expected at the grand opening events, only 2-D and wall-mounted 3-D work will be considered.

WHAT TO SEND

Materials should be submitted by mail or delivered in person. We can not accept submissions via email. Please send:

A CD/DVD containing images and/or segments of audio/video, each no longer than five minutes in duration.

Artists may submit a maximum of 3 art works for consideration.

All works must be original (no reproductions.)

A printed list of the works submitted, with titles, media, and dimensions.

if you would like your materials returned, please include an SASE.

GUIDELINES FOR DIGITAL FILES

Effort will be made to review all submissions, regardless of format. However, applicants should be aware that incompatible files may cause submissions to be rejected. Applicants are encouraged to format files as described below.

All materials should be clearly labeled with the artist’s name.

Name each file according to the following format: “last name” underscore “document”. Example: jones_statement.pdf.

Please number each image file corresponding to the work sample list, the following format: Example: 01_jones_untitled.jpg.

Image files should not be larger than 1MB., and should be formatted as jpeg, tiff, or png.

Video and audio submissions may be submitted as a DVD, or on a CD and formatted as Quicktime, Windows Media, .wav, or .mpeg files, as appropriate.

Text files must be compatible with Microsoft Office 2003.

DELIVERY & INSTALLATION

Artists are responsible for transporting work to and from the gallery. Art work must be delivered ready to hang and appropriately presented. Art works that differ significantly from the images submitted for judging may be rejected. We invite you to deliver your work in person. If you need to ship the work, please call us to let us know what arrangements you have made.

The exhibition will be installed and dismantled by M-NCPPC staff unless the nature of the work requires special assistance.

SALES & INSURANCE

The M-NCPPC will retain a 25% commission on all art works sold during, or as a result of the exhibition. M-NCPPC will be responsible for the safekeeping of all consigned artworks while they are in the custody of the Brentwood Art Center or while being handled by authorized M-NCPPC staff, from the agreed delivery date through the agreed removal date.

Laurel Art Guild’s Call For Artists

>41st Annual LAG Open Juried Exhibition
The Laurel Art Guild (located in the grounds of the historic Montpelier Mansion) is a non-profit organization of people interested in the advancement of the fine arts. Each year, the organization has a call for artists to submit entries for their annual juried exhibition of artwork. This year is the 41st Open Juried Exhibition, and I am honored to be the judge for this year’s event.
The membership of the Guild consists of professional and amateur artists expressing themselves through a wide variety of media. The Guild strives to promote public appreciation for the support of its endeavors through community involvement.

Laurel Art Guild 41st Annual Open Juried Exhibition Eligibility
Any artist who resides in the District of Columbia, Maryland, or Virginia (DMV) over 18 years old may submit two entries, however, only one entry per artist will be exhibited.
Any original two dimensional work in any medium, completed in the last three years and not previously shown at Montpelier Arts Center, is eligible. Framed dimensions must not exceed 48″ high X 36″ wide. Wall mounted three dimensional work that meets the specific hanging requirements will be considered.
Screening will be done by 35mm slides or jpg files on disk.
