One of the goals of the Washington Glass School is to educate its students and the public in the creation and appreciation of works of art and design, to discover and transmit knowledge and to make lasting contributions to a global society through critical thinking, scholarship and innovation. The Washington Glass School is associated with other educational centers such as the Penland School of Crafts in North Carolina and the University of Sunderland and the National Glass Centre in the UK to broaden the insights and opportunities in glass art.
Ongoing education is integral to creating private and public art. Research and collaboration, along with engaging in community outreach and support are the basis of our multi-faceted approach. This also provides mechanisms and opportunities to enrich and advance the creation, understanding and enjoyment of the arts. As a result, the total is much greater than the sum of the parts.
