Welcome!

21st century glass21st century glass21st century glass21st century glassThe Washington Glass School is a dynamic center for sculptural glass education, artistic experimentation, and community engagement, located on the northeast edge of Washington, DC. Serving the Mid-Atlantic region for over two decades, the School brings together artists, students, and the curious public to explore glass as a contemporary material—one that bridges fine art, design, architecture, and public space.

Our studios focus on kiln-formed glass practices including casting, fusing, and coldworking, while encouraging cross-disciplinary exploration with steel, printmaking, lighting, and mixed media approaches. We are especially committed to welcoming artists from other disciplines and introducing them to the expressive depth, technical rigor, and creative possibilities of working with glass.

Washington Glass School offers hands-on classes and workshops ranging from introductory techniques to advanced, concept-driven courses. Offerings include beginning and advanced fusing, plate glass techniques, cast glass sculpture, glass and steel integration, basic MIG welding, recycled glass processes, and architectural lighting. From sculptural works to functional and architectural elements, the emphasis is on experimentation, craftsmanship, and the development of a personal artistic voice.

Classes are scheduled with urban life in mind and are typically held evenings and weekends. From first-time makers to experienced artists expanding their practice, Washington Glass School provides a collaborative environment where material, process, and community come together.
